SMILE DESIGN SEQUENCE

1 Position incisal edge of upper central incisors

2 Get midline parallel to facial midline

3 Decide on length of central incisors based on ideal length of 11mm
or ideal tooth display if low lip line

4 Work out width of central incisors aiming for height :
width ratio of 0.75 to 0.85

5 Width of lateral incisor and mesial of canine should be
in golden proportion of 1.6: 1.0: 0.6

6 Smile line should mirror lower lip line

7 Long axes of teeth progressively slope distally

8 Consider buccal corridor:
long axes of canines and premolars are parallel to each other

9 Contacts become shorter as you progress distally

10 Embrasures move apically and become more rounded
as you progress distally

11 Consider gingival aesthetics
